What is the iron profile?

This blood test is used to provide valuable information about the levels of iron and related markers in the blood. It is commonly used to assess the body’s iron status and diagnose various condition related to iron metabolism such as anaemia, iron deficiency anaemia, hemochromatosis or other disorders.

What is being tested?

A biomarker is a biological measure which can be tested to indicate
an individual's health status and can be monitored to create appropriate health plans and treatments.

  1. Iron
  2. Total Iron Binding Capacity (TIBC)
  3. Transferrin Saturation
  4. Ferritin

Symptoms you may be feeling?

The symptoms below can indicate abnormal levels in the biomarkers found in the Comprehensive Metabolic profile.


  1. Extreme fatigue and weakness
  2. Headache and dizziness
  3. Pale skin
  4. Cold hands and feet
  5. Chest pain
  6. Fast heartbeat and shortness of breath

How is the blood collected?

  1. 1 x Gold SST Microtainer
  1. The healthcare professional will take down your details and confirm your blood test of choice.
  2. Using our finger-prick lancets, you will be told to prick the corner of your finger allowing your blood to drop easily into the tube.
  3. Once you have filled the required tubes, the healthcare professional will provide you with a plaster.
  4. Your sample will be processed and you will receive your results online or through your chosen clinic within 48 hours.
